What Ahoy can access in your email and calendar
The permissions you grant when you connect an account, and the controls you keep.
Ahoy builds your CRM from your email and calendar, so it needs permission to read them. This article lists exactly what you're granting when you connect an account, and the controls you keep afterwards.
Google Workspace
When you connect a Google account, Ahoy asks for these permissions.
| Permission | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Your name and email address | Signing you in |
| Read your Gmail | Building contacts, companies, and timelines from your email |
| Send email as you | Sending the emails you approve |
| See and edit your calendar | Showing your meetings, and creating the events you approve |
| Read Google Meet meeting details | Linking a call to its transcript |
| Read files Google Meet creates in Drive | Reading Meet transcripts |
| Files you open or create with Ahoy in Drive | Working with files you choose |
Ahoy can't change or delete the email in your Gmail. Its Gmail access is read and send only.
Ahoy doesn't ask for your whole Google Drive. It can only reach files Google Meet created and files you open with Ahoy.
Microsoft 365
When you connect a Microsoft account, Ahoy asks for these permissions.
| Permission | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Your basic profile | Signing you in |
| Read and write your mail | Building contacts, companies, and timelines from your email |
| Send mail as you | Sending the emails you approve |
| Read and write your calendar | Showing your meetings, and creating the events you approve |
| Read your mailbox settings | Reading your calendar's category colors |
| Read your contacts | Filling in the people you already know |
| Keep access while you're away | Staying in sync without asking you to sign in again |
A normal user account can grant these. You don't need to be a Microsoft 365 admin.
What Ahoy does with that access
- It reads selectively. Not all of your mail is brought in. See Which emails Ahoy brings in.
- It doesn't send without you. Sending an email always needs your approval, whatever your auto-approval settings are.
- It doesn't share without you. Your emails and calendar events are visible to teammates only if you turn sharing on.
Controls you keep
All of these are in Settings → Account → Email & Calendar.
- Sharing. Turn Share emails with your team and Share calendar events with your team on or off at any time.
- Private events. Events marked private in your calendar stay private in Ahoy.
- Disconnect. Disconnecting stops the sync. You can reconnect at any time.
- Delete synced data. After you disconnect, you can permanently delete that account's synced emails, calendar events, or both from Ahoy.
You can also remove Ahoy's access from your Google or Microsoft account's own security settings.
Meeting recording
Recording is separate from these permissions and is off until you turn it on. See Record meetings with the Ahoy Notetaker.
